No matter what country Joe Jonas is in, when he’s on stage there’s thousands of outstretched hands looking for just a fleeting touch of the now-solo singer.
Jonas rocked the crowd in Mexico City on Thursday night, performing for the 2011 MTV World Stage series. Clad in an almost-pastel blue suit, Joe worked the stage’s catwalk which was surrounded by throngs of fans who all reached upward as Joe took his position at the end of the stage on a stool.
And when Joe tweeted on Thursday that “It’s like a #MTV weekend,” he’s pretty much right. Joe will go from Mexico City to Los Angeles this weekend so he can be in the house for Sunday night’s VMAs — which Celebuzz will be covering in full force. Come back to us Sunday night starting at 8pm EST for all of the fashion, music and awards coverage you can imagine. And if you haven’t already, please do join our Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr pages!

Taking the stage for a grand south of the border performance, Joe Jonas was front and center at the National Auditorium in Mexico City, Mexico on Thursday night (August 25).
Looking sharp in a bright blue suit, the “Camp Rock” hunk rocked out as part of the 2011 MTV World Stage Mexico festivities.
During the course of his set, Joe was at one point joined by Mexican singer Dulce Maria while a security officer had to contain an avid fan who hopped onstage to hug her idol in the midst of his songs.
Aside from his Mexican doings, 22-year-old Jonas has just released the cover art for his first solo album “Fast Life” – which is set for release this October.

At the height of his fame, when his three headed do-gooding sibling monster was rampaging through city streets lined with screaming tween fans, Joe Jonas was one of the most desired young men in show business. And he had the lady friend track record to prove it. Most famously, and then infamously, was his relationship with the then-budding superstar Taylor Swift.
That pairing, of course, ended quite swiftly, with what became the 27 second phone call heard round the world. Which led to the pair’s first collaboration, of sorts — the song “Forever & Always” is allegedly about the split. Which beget their second “duet”: the Jonas song “Much Better,” on their “Lines, Vines & Trying Times” album.
Now, a few years later and embarking on a solo career, Joe says he’s ready to put the past behind him and work on a song with Swift — one on which they actually team up, not take shots at each other.
“I think there’s a great opportunity for that to happen,” Jonas said in a new interview with Bliss Magazine (via Anything Disney). “We’re friendly, we’re not enemies. People like to think that once you’ve dated, that’s it and you can never be friends again. They see it in a very black and white way. But there’s a middle-ground in that situation.”
That situation, Jonas said, takes time to hash out.
“I’d have to say that in order to save a friendship, you need to be yourself,” he explained. “Sadly it’s not always possible, but I was brought up to be a good guy and I hope that shows. These things take time too. You can’t be friends with someone immediately after a break up. It’s not an overnight situation. Everyone needs some time to heal and figure it all out.”
If they are indeed at that point, well, it would be sweet to see them reach a new stage of musical maturity and team up like that. Wouldn’t be bad publicity for his new solo album, either.

What do you guys think? Do you hate it, love it, like it? SOUNDS IT OFF IN THE COMMENTS!

When our “Bigger Than The Buzz” producers asked us which celebrities we’d want to appear on our episode 5 of “Bigger Than The Buzz,” we had only three answers. Oprah, Kate Middleton and Joe Jonas. Oprah was busy (whatEVER), Kate Middleton declined but sent us a lovely box of macrons. And Joe Jonas stepped up to the plate, making him our very first celebrity guest! (Also, Oprah and Kate Middleton are OFF my Christmas card list.)
So, not only did MTV News’ James Montgomery and I get to share a tall, cool glass of milk with Joe, but we got a chance to find out his take on the VMAs — he’s a VMA presenter, and he’ll be kicking off VMA weekend by performing live at mtvU’s VMA Concert to Benefit Lifebeat – Music Fights HIV concert with Cobra Starship and Miguel. And, since he’s going on tour with Britney Spears, he told us what he plans to steal from her dressing room. Watch out, Brit. If your feather boa goes missing, you know who to call.
Also, inspired by my current favorite video — Chromeo’s dangerously fertile “When The Night Falls” video — James, Joe and I discussed artists who are so hot they should come with their own birth control. Joe Jonas’ answer: Michael Bolton. AMAZING! And speaking of babies, we speculated on Lady Gaga’s VMA opening performance. If I were running things, I’d try to arrange for Lady Gaga to give birth to a baby Gaga wearing a meat dress. Wait… What? No? Not gonna happen? Okay, that’s not gonna happen. She’s probably got something even than that bigger planned.
We also got Joe Jonas’ style tips for guys (specifically, for James). What it comes down to is that “fashion hurts.” Amen, (Jonas) brother.
And for you Joe Jonas fans out there who wanna know what Joe’s like in person, well, you probably won’t be surprised to hear that he’s not only incredibly down-to-earth — he arrived on set with almost no entourage, excited to be part of the show (“I saw the show! It’s really fun. But why milk?” he asked me before the cameras started rolling), but he’s also dangerously funny and really knows his shiz when it comes to music. Actually, I’m a little worried they’ll replace me with him. Anyway, big thanks to Joe Jonas for being our first celebrity guest on “Bigger Than The Buzz.” (And also, please don’t take my job.)

hits up the 2011 MTV World Stage Mexico press conference held at the W Mexico City on Wednesday afternoon (August 24).Don’t forget to check out the 22-year-old musician as he performs at the 2011 mtvU VMA Concert to Benefit Lifebeat this weekend.
While Joe will be hitting the stage solo next month on his tour with Jay Sean, he tells Parade that he does miss his brothers.
“There are times when I miss them onstage, and I wish they could be with me and be able to experience the things I’m experiencing,” Joe shared. “But it’s good for them to have this time to themselves too and kind of relax. I’m really loving this experience. To be able to get on stage on my own and travel and perform is great.”
Singer Joe Jonas, who will offer a preview on Thursday from his album “Fast Life”, with the first single “See No More,” said he would like to do a duet with Shakira. In addition, the interpreter said they always will be making music, as his inspirations are Robbie Williams, Mick Jagger and Bono, the U2 frontman “I am inspired by British singer Robbie Williams. I am making music alone or with my brothers and I hope to get some day to be like Bono or Mick Jagger, “the interpreter said today at a press conference in Mexico City. Joe Jonas went solo, and this month will debut in Latin America, an exclusive show for MTV Mexico 2011 World Stage, where he will share the stage with another great star. Joe Jonas began working on his solo project in early 2010 with the intention of combining sounds and moods of music he likes: dance pop, hip hop, techno and house.
Part of the press conference that the singer gave after shortly arriving in Mexico City. The fans, crazy.
The ecstatic cry of the fans for Joe Jonas. So, with that sound, will be remembered today, just a day of recording Mexico 2011 World Stage.
And today, Joe Jonas made his entrance, the first artist of the event. The singer arrived in the city and caused a stir in front of the hotel, before and after the conference. The craziness then moved near the National Auditorium, where the pop superstar and participated sound recording for Güik MTV.
But what we all want to know: what did Joe Jonas speak about during the press interview? First, of course, he greeted and showed enthusiasm for the show: “I am excited to be here with MTV in Mexico City. And I can not wait to go on stage and have fun. “
One of the first questions was about his debut solo album, “Fast Life”, more precisely the origin of the title chosen. To which Joe replied, “It was not a bad thing or anything like that, but simply because at that time I was traveling a lot, moving and having fun at the same time. Hence arose the name of ‘Fast Life’ for the songs. It’s about that time in my life, with all the crazy things we did then with my friends. Lots of movement, lots of fun. “
Another obvious question: what motivated his solo project and what it represents for the future of the Jonas Brothers? “It’s an idea I had for some time, and actually told my brother the a year and a half ago. We got to see what each would do during the break we decided to take in 2011. Then I shared this idea, and they supported me. As for the future of the Jonas Brothers, well, the future is to continue making more music together. We do not know when we will do it again. And I can not really think much about it, because now I have my solo album. “
Joe also made reference to Latino viewers. “My Latino fans are wonderful. I’m excited they give me support, especially knowing that my lyrics are not in the language they speak. I love to hear how they sing my lyrics, with their own accent, “the singer said.
Joe Jonas has just finished his new album: “Fast Life”. It is your solo debut. But you do not seem intimidated. “The fans are the best support that an artist may have, no doubt. Especially now, with Facebook and Twitter, where you can find out immediately what their reactions are. But beyond all, I feel very confident with this project. I’m sure things will go well because, first of all, I have the support of my family, which is the first thing I consider. So I started: with the support of my family, “he said.
INTERVIEW BY ERIN HILL
AUGUST 24, 2011The Jonas Brothers have spent the past few years dominating the teen music scene. But after selling millions of albums and winning the hearts of fans worldwide, 22-year-old Joe Jonas is ready to break out on his own.
Jonas is set to release his solo debut album, FastLife, on Oct. 11. And before he starts his gig opening for Britney Spears on the European leg of her Femme Fatale tour later this fall, the singer will be teaming up with R&B superstar Jay Sean to co-headline a 19-city tour, kicking off Sept. 6.
Jonas talked to Parade.com about performing without his brothers, and why he’s not afraid to open up about love and heartache on his new album.
On venturing out on his own.
“It’s been really awesome to see how many people have supported me on this solo project. I’ve been doing a lot of traveling and recording over the past year, trying to do everything I can to get in the studio and work with new producers and writers and try to see what I can come up with. I’ve been really lucky to find some incredible people to work with and I’m really happy with the album.”His fans haven’t let him down.
“It has been really surprising. The fans have been loving the new music. It’s cool to see that the fans who have been with us since the beginning are the ones who are supporting me now. Even new ones are coming around who may have not listened to the Jonas Brothers before. It’s a really exciting time for me.”See photos of Nick, Joe, and Kevin through the years
On touring with Britney Spears.
“It is a dream come true. She’s the perfect headliner. I’ve always been a huge fan of her music. I can’t wait to go over to Europe. It’s going to be the greatest experience.”On performing without his brothers.
“There are times when I miss them onstage, and I wish they could be with me and be able to experience the things I’m experiencing, but it’s good for them to have this time to themselves too and kind of relax. I’m really loving this experience. To be able to get on stage on my own and travel and perform is great.”Think you know the Jonas Brothers? Take the quiz!
On Nick and Kevin’s reaction to his new album.
“They are loving it. They’ve been really supportive. They have their favorite songs already and it’s been really great to see what songs they are leaning towards and what they like.”On how his new sound compares to the Jonas Brothers.
“It’s a little more hip hop and dance. I’ve been inspired by Kanye West and Kid Cudi, who are trying new things with pop music and dance and hip hop. I’ve been able to work with some producers who have worked with people like them and I’m very happy with the outcome.”See exclusive photos of Nick Jonas
On sharing songs about past relationships with the world.
“Part of me is nervous about that. There are some songs that I definitely go, ‘Ok, I hope people don’t read into it too much.’ It’s a very honest state of mind to go into when you’re writing a record because you want to be completely honest. A lot of the songs are fun and just about having a good time, but there are songs in there that are deep and I get more into my personal life. I want to do my best to be as honest as possible.”On his experience as a celebrity mentor in the Acuvue 1-DAY Contest, where he worked with Brittany B. of Atwater, Calif., to help her further her dream of supporting the Special Olympics.
“It was really fun to spend the day with Brittany and encourage her to raise money and awareness. Its cool to see young people out there wanting to live out their dreams — and it’s not about music or acting — she wants to give back and that’s incredible. Spending time with her and seeing what a believer she is has inspired me.”On his personal mentors.
“My dad has always been my biggest supporter. Musician wise, I would say Bono has always been a big one for me. He’s such an incredible inspiriaton in terms of giving back and he’s an amazing musician, too.”
Joe calls in the week after he hosts the Hollywood 5. They talk about Nick being on the People mag Richest Teens list, his birthday in Vegas and whether or not he could take Bieber.

Joe Jonas from The Jonas Brothers: Living the Dream has launched his solo career already releasing two singles with an album scheduled to come out in October. Joe along with his older brother Kevin and younger brother Nick formed the band, Jonas Brothers and became international superstars. Having won several awards, sold millions of albums worldwide and starred in movies and TV shows, the Jonas Brothers dominated the teen music scene.
Over the weekend, Joe spent some time at the Jersey shore, hosting a party at the night club mur.mur inside the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa. I spoke with the artist in Atlantic City about his new album, what he thinks about touring with Britney Spears and what the future holds for the Jonas Brothers.
Are you enjoying your time at the Jersey shore?
It’s been great! Fun to kind of come here and relax and have some fun–do something like this is kind of a dream come true I’m really, really excited. I have a lot of friends that live out in New Jersey so I was able to see a few of them yesterday. We did this really cool thing at the shore in Seaside Heights and it was pretty cool so now I’m in the casino kind of chilling and we went to the club last night we got to see Kascade perform it was really fun.You began your solo career and have released two singles, what has been the response?
It’s been great–everybody’s reaction’s been amazing the fact that so many people have just been supporting the project and all the fans that kind of existed with the Jonas Brothers have been really showing their love and support and now kind of going even further this new year listening to the stuff–it’s been really great.Fans are excited for your new album scheduled for release in October, what can they expect?
Well, the music is a little bit different then the stuff I was doing with my brothers it’s a little bit more hip hop, dancy and just kind of a feel-good record. It’s something that I’ve been working on for the past year, I’ve worked with these producers that I’ve really looked up to, really loved and looking forward to being able to release it.It’s been announced you will be touring with Jay Sean and JoJo; are you looking forward to the tour?
We just released the Jay Sean co-headlining tour that I’m going to be on, we’re having JoJo open up it’s going to be really cool. It’s going to be a 19 city tour we’re going to be going all over the place and I’m really looking forward to it.You’ve said the first CD you ever bought was a Britney Spears album, are you excited to join the European leg of her Femme Fatale Tour?
Yeah, it was the first CD that I ever bought. The funniest thing about that is I was actually in N.J. not too long ago opening up for her and it was my first kind of taste tester of what it would be like, it was really cool. She’s an amazing performer still to this day and kind of to have that as something to be looking forward to is going to be really exciting. Will you and your brothers ever collaborate again as the Jonas Brothers?
Yeah, absolutely. Right now, just focusing on the solo project but when the time is right, we’re definitly going to be releasing more Jonas Brothers stuff together.

Just because they’ve taken a bit of a breather doesn’t mean the Jonas Brothers have broken up. In fact, according to middle brother Joe, fans can likely anticipate another tour.
“I get asked that all the time: ‘Are you breaking up?’” Jonas tells AOL Music. “But that’s to be expected. As long as the fans know that we’re not breaking up then I’m fine. It’s hard to break up brothers, and the fact that my brothers are still out there making music, I can see us going on another tour soon.”
“We sat down and said we were going to take some time off, and we were all talking about what we wanted to do, because even when we’re on breaks, we’re still working,” he continues.
“My older brother decided he wanted some family time with his wife, and my younger brother wanted to write with other people, and I just couldn’t get out of the studio. I wanted to create a solo project, so with their support I went for it and started working on the record every time I had a break.”
Jonas has been open about targeting older audiences with his upcoming solo debut, ‘Fast Life,’ and hopes to channel the likes of John Mayer or Kanye West in terms of taking risks and breaking from the past.
“I grew out of [certain] music when I was younger, and I’m not saying that all of our fans grew out of us, but some don’t want to listen to the Jonas Brothers anymore,” the singer says. “I get it — I was there.”
“I want to be able to work with artists and producers who were ahead of the trend and [who] I listen to,” he continues. “Music is so great, because if John Mayer came out with a hip-hop record or a dance record, it would probably be acceptable because music is the one thing where you can do whatever you want. Kanye West is the prime example. My favourite record of his is the ’808′ record because he sings the whole time. And that’s not usually what he does, but music’s open for anyone to do that.”
Not that Jonas wants to forget the Jonas Brothers — quite the opposite. After all, if not for his family keeping his “head on straight,” the adjustment to the spotlight could’ve come at quite a cost.
“Lionel Richie said it best,” begins Jonas. “His daughter was out partying or whatever and he was just kind of like, ‘Man, the kind of crazy stuff I did when I was her age doesn’t even compare to what she did.’ So I feel like the artists and musicians and actors have a microscope on them at all times, but you got to be a good person and just live your life and not be too crazy.”
Perhaps it’s that balance that explains why he’s not worried about his G-rated persona stifling his solo endeavour.
“I want my music to live for itself and I want it to be the forefront of everything I ever do. I know that people like to peek into personal lives and to know what’s going on — but that’s kind of to be expected — I just try to focus on what I love to do, which is music, and just enjoy that. And hopefully that will become the way people can see into my personal life.”
“You always assume people expect there to be a downfall, but luckily I have great people around me and good friends, and good family,” he concludes. “And I think that doing it with my family has kept my head on straight, and we’ve kept each other in line. When we were complaining, we’d punch each other in the arm and remind each other that there’s a bazillion people that would love to be in this opportunity and we’re the ones who get to do this, so there’s no reason to complain.”
