Joe Jonas recently sat down with MTV News, and in the middle of the conversation, he recalled what had to be one of his worst days ever. It was a day that included a stolen bike, a ruined ice cream cone and a loss for his favorite baseball team, the Yankees.
Here’s the tale of woe, straight from the source. He said, “All the time [I go biking]. Actually, my bike was stolen – it really was. I had a bike; literally it was my best friend. I rode it everywhere and in the middle of the day, it was sunny out me and Nick were shopping in SoHo. I locked it up on Prince and Mercer, so it’s a pretty busy street.
“Locked it up, a good lock, I mean it wasn’t a heavy duty lock,” he continued. “And I came back ten minutes later and it was gone … it’s really tough. I’m OK now, but at the time I was pretty depressed.”
Nick, being the good baby bro he is, tried to cheer him up. “Then Nick was like, ‘Let me buy you ice cream. It’ll make you feel better,’ cause ice cream makes anyone feel better for that five minutes and then you feel like crap afterwards. But then I dropped my ice cream cone on the ground and everybody around me was literally like, ‘Awww.’ It was so sad.”
But, it gets worse. “And then I went to a Yankees game and the Yankees lost horribly,” he added. “It was the worst day ever. I was [like], ‘Can I just go to bed now?’”

What do Nicki Minaj, Katy Perry and Joe Jonas have in common? Well, aside from being internationally renowned pop stars, all three are involved in a new campaign Pepsi has just launched. “Live for Now” focuses on the motto “carpe diem” and celebrates spontaneity through events, digital marketing and, of course, musical partnerships.
For Jonas, the opportunity to spread that message fits with his own philosophy about living life to the fullest. “It’s, I think, a good match. A lot of stuff that I love to do is spontaneous, last minute and living in the moment,” he explained to MTV News. “And what better way to encourage people and my fans to be able to live in the moment? ‘Live for Now’ is tweeting about it and getting them involved.”
As for being the face of the campaign alongside Perry and Minaj (whose Pepsi ads already debuted), well, for Joe, that was icing on the cake. “I’m in great company: Nicki Minaj, Katy Perry, more people to come, it’s an incredible little circle right now,” he explained.
“So, hopefully, we’ll all be able to do something together one day. But, as for now, just being able to do it individually and encourage their fans, my fans to get out there, or whomever, and be able to send in their little videos or pictures of them doing things that are in the moment.”
And, he added, those moments can be big or small. “I love being able to travel, take trips,” he said. “I called my buddies up. I literally called one of my best friends [brother-in-law Mikey Deleasa], he showed up to my house in New York, and I’m like, ‘Hey, what are you doing tomorrow? Let’s go to Vegas. Let’s do it!’ We had an incredible trip. We went to the Mayweather fight, and living in the moment and having a good time.
“But, if you can’t take Vegas trips on the weekend, there’s amazing things to do probably in your area,” he added. “Or, a road trip with your friends is always great.”
Earlier this month, Pepsi announced that Michael Jackson, who struck a deal with the brand in 1984, will be featured on Pepsi cans as a part of the campaign. The cans arrive Stateside later this month.

As I strolled through Washington Square Park after taking these outfit pictures, I ran into the one and only Joe Jonas! Perhaps a woman in her late twenties shouldn’t be so into the young musician, but I can’t help myself.
My sisters and I have been a fan of his since the Disney original movie Camp Rock. I can prove it: Here’s an old post from 2008.
In any event, it so happened that I was taping for BeChicTV and caught our introduction on camera! Don’t laugh at my aggressiveness. Hey- I know what I want. See the video below and let me know your thoughts!
[Brief Note: I run into celebrities all the time in New York City, and I almost never approach them when they're "off the clock". However, I approached Joe because he was already surrounded by the teens.]

Q: Why was Miami the best choice to kick off Spring Break?
A: I mean I love Miami. I’ve been here like every other week for the past 2 months. And that’s just me because I love people. The beaches are amazing and now that it’s spring, it’s getting so beautiful out and I think this is perfect for people to fly down and be able to enjoy Miami. There’s so much to do and have fun.Q: Do you like girls who wear pieces from the VS Pink line?
A: Absolutely, well I think it’s nice cause it’s the perfect way to kind of show somebody’s personality too. The bright colors, it just makes you happy. So I think it’s very cool.. Even walking down here, I was smiling because the colors are so bright and exciting.. it’s just cool to be here.

Joe Jonas’ Sessions: Singer Writes Songs About His Famous Exes, Reveals Post-JoBro Dream Band
Joe Jonas and his band of brothers may already be hinting at a Jonas Brothers reunion, but the new solo artist is definitely doing his thing — and on his own terms. This past fall, the 22-year-old dropped his debut solo album ‘Fastlife,’ a CD full of songs co-written by the singer. To make ‘Fastlife’ a sound all his own, JJ collaborated with the likes of Chris Brown, Lil Wayne and producers like Danja and Rob Knox. The result? An edgy, all-grown-up sound … and the image to go along with it. Have you seen his steamy and mostly shirtless ‘Just in Love’ music video?!Jonas performed an exclusive Sessions set at AOL Music’s New York studios and afterward, the singer sat down for a candid Q&A about breaking away from his fam, forming his fantasy super group and writing tell-all lyrics about his famous exes. Check out our interview with the JoBro-gone-solo!
What was your biggest fear when it came to leaving your brothers and going solo?
Probably the biggest fear was doing this on my own, taking that step, that leap of faith to try something on my own without them there. Whether it was for writing songs or even performing, I was all by myself … a very vulnerable state. But having their support made it a lot easier and having the fans’ support, knowing that they are excited by the new music and liking the stuff, it’s been a very overwhelming experience.
What creative sacrifices did you have to make as a member of a group that you don’t have to make now as a solo artist?
I think probably the biggest thing is when we write songs, I would say a lot of the time there are three different ideas of what you want the song to be about. For me, I’m able to write about experiences that I’ve gone through personally that my brothers or other writers haven’t really experienced. So I get to really go there and it can be hard too, because you really have to be honest with your lyrics. You can’t really hold anything back. That was probably the biggest difference.
When it comes to being honest with your lyrics, you’ve had some high-profile relationships. Does that affect your songwriting at all?
Yeah, sometimes it’s interesting. You know, I don’t like to say names of who I write songs about just so that way the audience can relate. Though, that said, it’s interesting to hear what other people may think. You know, sometimes they’re totally off. They go, “Is this about this person?” and they try to juggle which song is about whom. But as for me, it’s really satisfying when somebody goes, “I’ve been through that situation. I know where you were when you wrote that song.”
So you leave things anonymous for your fans, not for your own personal privacy … ?
I mean sometimes I try to keep it quiet for myself too, because I just know that I’m still pretty cool with those I’ve been in relationships with. So if it’s a really mean or upsetting song, I don’t want to make anyone upset.
Have any of your exes’ songs made you think, “That’s about me”?
Not really. I’m just more so focused on what I’m doing … It could be flattering if someone wrote a song about you.
What inspired your album title?
‘Fastlife’ was one of the names of the songs on the record and also just this crazy busy life that I live, traveling city to city. I went to Paris like three weeks ago, and the next thing you know you’re in New York, then you’re in Los Angeles the next day. So, it’s a crazy life. It’s busy and it’s exciting too and it’s a lot of fun, so I wanted to bring people into that world that I live to experience it for themselves.
Speaking of living the fast life, do you ever regret that you stepped into the spotlight at such a young age?
The experiences that I’ve had are so amazing, so I don’t know if I really want to give back any of those amazing experiences. At the same time, there are things that I missed. I mean sporting events, being at school — they’re small things, but at the same time, I really love what I’ve been able to do in my career.
Where do you see yourself at one of those slightly arbitrary milestone ages? Let’s say 30.
I would say when I’m 30, I’ll hopefully have done a couple of records, solo records and with my brothers. More acting. I’ve got a couple opportunities coming my way so I’m hoping to further that acting career. And then, who knows, do something different. I love cooking, so open a restaurant or something!
What acting opportunities are you working on?
I’m trying to develop a movie with a buddy of mine back in L.A. We have this idea to create this film. I don’t want to give away the idea too much, because it’s so bare bones, but it’s a very exciting, exciting project. [I'd be] producing and acting in it.
What three songs would be on the soundtrack to your life?
Wow, that could be really difficult. Well I guess there are songs that affected me the most throughout my life. I would say ‘Blackbird’ by the Beatles, ‘Somewhere Only We Know’ by Keane, and then wow, third one. I would probably go with the whole album ‘The Joshua Tree’ by U2 [laughs], if I can do that.
You’ve had a lot of nice things to say about working with Chris Brown. Who else would you like to work with?
I have to say, Chris Brown was a lot of fun to work with. He’s a really talented artist and the music he’s coming out with is incredible. Recently, he has worked with so many different artists, so when I worked with him I was really thankful. And another artist I would love to work with? I mean, I love Adele. I love people like Kid Cudi and Kanye West. There’s something about working with an artist who is totally different from what you do that’s intriguing.
Is collaborating with other artists something that there is more opportunity for now that you’re outside of the group?
It can be easier to work with one person one-on-one rather than one-on-three, so we’ll see.
If you could create a super group, like Mick Jagger’s SuperHeavy, who would you choose to be in your band?
My super group? Chris Martin from Coldplay. The lead singer of Muse, Matthew Bellamy, he plays base so he can play the base in the band. I would say Paul McCartney, and then Tommy Lee on the drums. I mean, we’d all share lead vocals [laughs]!
JoBro-gone-solo Joe Jonas hit AOL Music’s New York studio to perform an exclusive live Sessions recently … and we know you’re all dying to see the crooner live in action! But before we premiere Joe’s Sessions performances tomorrow (March 2), here’s a preview of the 22-year-old ‘Fastlife’ creator’s song set, interview and photo shoot in our Behind-the-Sessions video below. Joe Jonas was in town Friday night to hang out at Baoli Miami, which brought back the popular “Love Boat” party from Cannes, France. The restaurant transformed its venue into a nautical paradise modified to treat guests to an on-yacht experience right on Collins Avenue. Servers were outfitted as nautical crew, from Captains to shipmates, and guests were dress the part as well. Jonas hung out with his drummer and a group of friends and models while feasting on menu items including tuna tartare, sea bass, filet mignon and drank their signature supersize pitcher cocktail with 3-foot straws. Joe had no problem stopping to take pictures with any fan that asked. Later he went to Wall at the W Hotel, where he went live on the mic to introduce DJ Jordan Postrel to the club. You already know that Kevin and Joe Jonas attended the Rock the Vote kick-off party for the 2012 election and the Rock the Vote apparel launch at Fred Segal, but only we were there with the guys every step of the way before they walked the carpet. We rode along with Kevin and Joe from Joe’s Los Angeles apartment as a part of a new Cambio series, Ride Along, where we take you along for the ride with celebrities… wherever they happen to be heading. On our ride with Kevin and Joe, the guys revealed some secrets, like that Joe doesn’t have a Valentine this year and according to Kevin, Joe likes to keep his room nice and toasty warm. The guys also talked about what they did earlier that day.
“I drove over and saw mom, and picked up Frankie from school,” Kevin said. “I saw the photos online,” replied Joe with a smirk.
Kevin and Joe also shared that Kevin can control the lighting and temperature of his house in New Jersey on his phone. High-tech, much? He even spilled about a little prank he played on his wife, Danielle, from across the country.
Fans greeted Kevin and Joe at the event at Fred Segal, where the boys confirmed that they are going to start writing new music together soon.
