Sydney: Last night, Paris Hilton, Slash, will.i.am, Joe Jonas and a whole host of other superstars, helped launch Sydney’s newest nightlife venue – Marquee – The Star, Sydney, a joint partnership between Echo Entertainment and Tao Group.
Over 1000 party-goers were the first to enjoy the new venue as they partied into the night with electrifying performances by Dutch DJ Afrojack and Redfoo from electro pop duo LMFAO.
The opening saw many local and international celebrities walking the red carpet at The Star’s new harbour-side entry, including Paris Hilton, will.i.am, Slash, Ashlee Simpson, Joe Jonas, Kellan Lutz and Sharni Vinson, Nick and Vanessa Lachey, Wilmer Valderrama, Minka Kelly, Isabel Lucas, Abbie Cornish, Jodie Gordon, Jermaine Dupri, Afrojack, Ricki Lee Coulter and Redfoo of LMFAO.
In what is a first for Australia, Marquee – The Star, Sydney has been designed like no other nightlife venue with nearly 20,000 square feet of floor space, it features three distinct rooms within the one nightclub which allows it to cater for different music tastes and moods.
Marquee – The Star, Sydney will officially be open to the public tonight, with DJ, songwriter and producer, will.i.am, from Black Eyed Peas fame, performing. Also at the DJ decks is rapper and producer, Jermaine Dupri.
The two nights of partying signal the beginning of an impressive line up of acts who will take to the stage in the coming weeks

Joe Jonas gets interviewed at the Victoria’s Secret Pink Nation Spring Break Pool Party on March 14, 2012.
Q: Why was Miami the best choice to kick off Spring Break?
A: I mean I love Miami. I’ve been here like every other week for the past 2 months. And that’s just me because I love people. The beaches are amazing and now that it’s spring, it’s getting so beautiful out and I think this is perfect for people to fly down and be able to enjoy Miami. There’s so much to do and have fun.
Q: Do you like girls who wear pieces from the VS Pink line?
A: Absolutely, well I think it’s nice cause it’s the perfect way to kind of show somebody’s personality too. The bright colors, it just makes you happy. So I think it’s very cool.. Even walking down here, I was smiling because the colors are so bright and exciting.. it’s just cool to be here.

Most March magazine issues are devoted to endless fashion spreads aimed at pleasing readers and advertisers alike. Details decided to honor a dozen “Social Mavericks” in its pages and teamed up with the Calvin Klein Collection to celebrate their tech-friendly ways at the brand’s Madison Avenue flagship.
“A lot of the topics that we normally cover like fashion or architecture are exciting and visually invigorating but they’re not really life-changing like social media is,” said Dan Peres, the publication’s longtime editor. “I’m getting geekier and geekier each day. Mostly with apps that make my life as Dad a lot easier. And then I nerd out as an editor so my geek quotient is definitely rising significantly.”
Mr. Peres co-hosted the event with Calvin Klein men’s creative director Italo Zucchelli, who is still more comfortable with the “chic” label than the “geek” label.
“I haven’t gotten into social media lands just yet on the personal level,” smiled Mr. Zucchelli. “The whole Facebook thing worries me,” he said. “If I don’t see people for a long time, there’s probably a reason for that!”
At the bash, Mr. Zucchelli loosened his social phobias and happily met representatives from brands like Tumblr, SoundCloud, Instagram, and FITist.
Rachel Sterne, NYC chief digital officer, was perhaps the most recognizable “Social Maverick” in the room.
“Social media is becoming very ubiquitous in pretty much every industry,” she said. “One of the industries that’s embracing it right now is fashion but everyone in finance and real estate is starting to keep up too.”
But arguably the most feverish social-media users are musicians. Joe Jonas, who has 3.2 million Twitter followers, made the rounds at the bash and posed for more Facebook pages than we could count. “I’m always on my phone,” said Mr. Jonas. “So much so that I put my charger in my jacket pocket and travel with it. And lately I’ve been addicted to putting up everything I eat, as strange as that is.”
Does he ever recognize his online fan base when they hunt him down for photos?
“Definitely,” he said. “Some of them aggressively tweet or Facebook me 20 times a day, so meeting them in real life can be exciting, funny, and awkward all at same time.”
