ARTICLE: 90210′s Jessica Lowndes Talks New Music, Singing With Joe Jonas
Written By Kimberly on Oct 19, 2011 | Filed Under: Article, Gossip, Joe Jonas, Latest News, Music | Comments Off \ Leave a comment

Tue., Oct. 18, 2011 7:00 AM PDT by Marc Malkin and Brett Malec

90210 star Jessica Lowndes is no “Fool” when it comes to making music.

In fact, the 22-year-old just shot her very first music video this week and is performing her new single “Fool” on tonight’s episode of the hit CW show.

Read on for what the actress-turned-songbird recently dished to us about her hot new singing career. Plus, what she’s saying about teaming up with Joe Jonas…

What can you tell us about your performance tonight?
This week, they’re holding a benefit to raise money for Raj’s [Manish Dayal] cancer treatment. It’s a talent show, and at the last second she takes someone’s place even though right now Adriana hates fame and she hates every thing associated with it.

Kellie Pickler guest stars on the episode, do you sing together?
We don’t sing together, but we’re both singing at the same talent show.

Is Kellie someone you would want to work with in the future?
I’m not opposed to any kind of collaborations. I just love music in general, so yeah. She’s a sweetheart.

Are there any other celebs you’d love to have on the show?
It was so fun working with Joe Jonas last year…He was cute.

Did you and Joe talk about music?
We did. [Mostly] each other’s projects really. It was inspiring to talk to him because he was working on his solo stuff and I’ve been working on my solo stuff. I’ve taken like a year and a half to really get it right.

Is there any chance of you collaborating with Joe?
I mean, I feel like he’s supertalented. I would be lucky to work with him. That would be cool.

ARTICLE: Good Boy Gone Bad: Interview with Jonas Brother, Joe Jonas
Written By Kimberly on Oct 19, 2011 | Filed Under: Article, Interview, Joe Jonas, Latest News | 1 \ Leave a comment

Just Joe: The middle jobro is riding solo. In October his first solo album “Fastlife” comes out. On it he reviews his love life. The newest rumour about this is that Rihanna is keen on him. What he thinks about this and other gossip, the 22-year-old told us in a call we had shortly after his birthday.

How does it feel to do a solo project?
It’s been a really fun experience so far, to do this on my own and travel. And to have my brothers supporting me going into this projects means everything to me. I am really excited to be able to share the music with everybody and to release the record when it’s time.

Was it also a process to free yourself?
Lyrically, yes, concerning the band no. I put pressure on myself to write music that people would really understand, that people would relate with. I wanted to be able to express my heart and not hold anything back.

Now that you’ve mentioned your heart: how important was it for you to have a chance to be more personal? Some of the songs are quite personal.
I think that was definitely something that I wanted to be able to speak personally from my heart about what I was going through. That was probably the biggest thing. I wanted to force myself to be able to write lyrics that not only I can feel confident about, but that other people can relate with. It takes some time and experience to really feel confident with doing that.

How involved were your brothers?
I wrote a couple of songs together with my brothers to try to figure out if I can make it. We tried to work together on the project. They definitely listened to it, even afterwards, too. That was pretty cool.

Was the direction of the album clear from the beginning?
I wanted to be able to create a sound that was a little bit different from that people were used to, originally that was the Michael Buble sound. When I started working on the project a little bit more and diving into it and started really recording and writing, I wanted to create something a bit more dancey, some kind of urban hip hop stuff.

How long does it take from the very first idea of making a solo album to the record?
I first thought about almost 2 years ago. A year and half ago I sat down with my brothers and explained them the idea that I wanted to go. I said, listen guys, I want to create this project that is kind of something different, and I wanted to do it on the side. I kind of waited to see what they thought and luckily they were very supportive.

Did you ever think about your image because the record differs a lot from the jobro style?
A lot of it has to do with growing up and that expereiences that you have in your life that kind of mature you. I was going through the flows of life when I made the record and was able to write things that were really personal for me. I wasn’t really writing necessarily about other people, I was writing about my personal experiences I was going through. I was diving deeper into that.

“It’s a coming of age record”

Would you say you are a “good boy gone bad” when it comes to songs like “Love Slayer”?
Yeah, we all know these rumour funny things (Rihanna is said to have sent him sexy text messages, the editor), but I think more so it’s just a coming of age record. It’s not necessarily that I am trying to throw at people that I am trying to be too cool for school or I am trying to say that I am a bad boy. I let the music speak for itself.

But like every other person you have something bad in you, I guess. What was the craziest thing you ever done?
I haven’t done too many crazy things, but I want to go sky diving soon, hopefully. I had a friend that went sky diving and then got a tattoo on the same day. That was pretty cool. Maybe I will do that one day.

You just mentioned rumours. There are so many of them on the internet. For instance there is a picture when you passed by Shia LaBeouf on the streets in L.A. and neither of you said hello. Do you look at that stuff on the net?
That’s one of those classic cases of somebody making up a rumour. I’ts one of those funny things. I have never really met Shia LaBeouf. I just didn’t recognize him, so I wasn’t trying to ignore him. Those are just funny things that happen.

And how do you get that information?
Somebody writes me and email and asks me, is that true or not and then they can take care of it.

Does writing songs help you to work things up, to deal with gossip as well as to deal with heartbreak for instance?
I definitely think this is a great way for me to deal with things that are going on personally in my life. That’s why I love song writing and I think it’s always going to be there which is great.

You are going on tour with Britney Spears. What do you expect from that?
I expect it’s going to be great. I am really looking forward to it. It’s going to be a lot of fun. Britney is one of those incredible artists that I have looked up to for a long time and listened to her music for so long. To be able to go on tour with her is going to be really cool.

Did you have a chance to speak with her in advance?
Hopefully we will have some conversations with her later on the tour. The first chat that I had with her was really quick. It was difficult to be able to spend some time with her, but I have met her in the past. She is very sweet.

I have read that you would like to work together with Adele. Is that true?
Yeah, I would love to. I think Adele is so incredible and her music is fantastic. I would love to work with her, if the opportunity was there.

ARTICLE: Fancy dressing with Joe Jonas
Written By Kimberly on Oct 17, 2011 | Filed Under: Article, Joe Jonas, Latest News | Comments Off \ Leave a comment

October 17, 2011

Singer/songwriter Joseph Adam “Joe” Jonas is 22 years old, his star sign is Leo, his favourite pizza topping is BBQ chicken, he currently has 1,194,145 Facebook fans and his guest appearance on Hannah Montana in 2007 attracted 10.7 million viewers, making it US cable’s most watched series telecast. Ever.

Exploding onto the global stage as one third of Christian prog-rock act The Jonas Brothers, resident hotty, Joe Jonas found fame singing alongside his siblings. In their rise to superstardom, the boys have had two chart-topping albums and explored fruitful stints in the film industry. Now, six years after being discovered, Joe is embracing his own solo career. First stop? Britney Spears. Constantly snapped alongside some of the world’s hottest ladies, Joe maintains a squeaky clean image, sporting his purity ring at all times. He prefers to text rather than call and if he fancies you, you can expect a cheeky grin. i-D online got fancy dressing with Joe, kitting him out in some mighty fine William Richard Green threads before getting lost in his big, brown, dreamy eyes.

So your album comes out in two weeks, what can fans expect? I’m looking forward to it, it’s going be very exciting and it’s kind of surreal that it’s finally here. I’ve been able to work with so many different producers everyone from Rob Knox to Brian Kennedy and happy to have it right around the corner.

What new music have you been listening to recently? I did a show with this young redhead kid named Ed Sheeran. He’s really great, incredible voice, incredible songwriter, I really like his stuff.

Who would you like to collaborate with in the future? I’d love to do something with Kid Cudi or Kanye West, Tinie Tempah, a little bit different musically I think we could come up with something interesting and cool.

You’re also about to embark on a European tour with Britney how have you been preparing? I’ve been on my own tour in the US for a little while, co-headlining with Jay Sean. That’s geared me up to hit the road with Britney.

Do you prefer working as a solo artist? I feel like right now it’s good to do the solo stuff. I have my brothers’ support, they’re doing their own things and once we get back together it’ll be very special.

What are your brothers up to at the moment? Kevin is enjoying married life, he’s at home with his wife and he’s got a couple of opportunities that people will start to hear about soon. Nick is just finishing up his South American tour and he’s gearing up to go to Broadway for six months.

What do you do in your downtime? Sleep. Or shop or see the city, sometimes cook if I’m at home. I love hiking as I always travel, I love to go and see beautiful mountain ranges and things like that.

Joe Jonas Performs Just in Love

ARTICLE/VIDEO: Joe Jonas on steamy Just In Love video & talking cockney. Kinda.

We’ll let you judge his cockney accent for yourselves

Joe Jonas is beautiful, but if we’re totally honest with you guys, he’s generally a little boring in interviews. We know he’s up for a laugh and does all kinds of comedy shows and skits and sketches and other such fun, but when it’s up to him to come up with his own stuff, we usually take the time to have a nap.

Sorry. We love him, but sometimes love hurts.

So when we saw Joe at Radio 1′s Teen Awards this weekend we though “ooh, how about we get Joe to put on his best cockney accent and say some UK phrases? Ooh YEAH. That’ll be good.”

Joe seemed a little unsettled.

So, the phrases we had ready for him were:

  • Alright mate, what you lookin’ at?
  • I’ll have chips, cheese & curry sauce please love.
  • The bloody ref’s an IDIOT!
  • You get me yeah? Know what I mean yeah? You get me?
  • But he seemed to get bored after the first two.

Good effort though Joe! Stellar. Sterling. Bravo.

WASHINGTON – Joe Jonas, one-third of the pop sensation Jonas Brothers, is going solo. His new album, FastLife, out Tuesday, is better suited to a dance club than the Disney Channel. Jonas, 22, who has been on the road with Jay Sean and joins Britney Spears on her European tour starting Sunday, spoke with USA TODAY about his album and performing without his bros.

Q: Your new album seems to delve into your past relationships. Why did you decide to write about that?
A: When I started writing for the record, I wanted it to be very personal … even though it’s scary because it’s just (me) by myself. People are going to listen and try to pinpoint what the lyrics are about, but I did my best without saying any names.

Q: But this doesn’t sound like a breakup album; it’s pretty upbeat. Where do you think people will listen to your music?
A: Love Slayer is being played at clubs. I wrote the record for people to listen to in the car, with friends, wherever.

Q: What was it like to work with Chris Brown?
A: Fantastic. We just got together to play music and listen to each other’s stuff, and quickly it became us songwriting. We wrote (first single) See No More together, and he wrote Lighthouse, too, that I love.

Q: Lil Wayne remixed one of your songs. How did that come about?
A: (Second single) Just in Love was already finished, and he wanted to put a rap on the song, put a remix out, which is so exciting because I’m a huge Lil Wayne fan.

Q: How do you find enough energy to perform every night?
A: Even if I’m tired or exhausted or not feeling great, when I look out into the audience and I see those fans — that energy that they pull out of me is just hard to explain. Being on your own (without brothers Nick and Kevin) is a different thing because you put pressure on yourself to make the show great. (The day after this interview, Kevin surprised fans by showing up onstage with Joe at his show at Best Buy Theater in New York.)

Q: What do you do for fun on tour?
A: Bowling. It’s a fun thing, keeps it light. Everybody loves bowling — and playing video games. It’s kind of a tradition now on tour. Before we go on stage, we have to play. … I love sightseeing. Recently, we went to Austin and to the university there. I was able to see, almost, a college life. Something that I missed out on.

Q: What else do you do before you go on stage?
A: I go over the dance steps in my mind. I go over the music. I warm up. I do about 50 push-ups with my trainer and my security just to get pumped up before a show, get our energy up. And then I just go have fun.

Q: Do you sleep well on the bus after that?
A: I love the tour bunks. I can sleep like a baby in those bunks. It really doesn’t bother me at all. A lot of people have a difficult time — they’re like, “It’s like a coffin.” I get in there and I just pass out. You can’t even wake me up.

Q: Any plans for the Jonas Brothers to get back together after your tour?
A: Definitely. Right now, we’re just doing our individual stuff. And then when the time is right, (we’ll) get back together and start this up.

Q: Do you have any advice for younger artists trying to break into the music industry?
A: I was living that life for six years, still kind of am. It can be a very scary thing. I’m lucky I had a family and good friends to keep my head on straight and to realize it’s a dream come true.

ARTICLE: Joe Jonas to tour with Britney (INTERVIEW)
Written By Kimberly on Oct 10, 2011 | Filed Under: Article, Gossip, Interview, Joe Jonas, Latest News | Comments Off \ Leave a comment

    6:18pm Monday 10th October 2011
    By Harris Dee

JOE JONAS – of Jonas Brothers fame – has announced a short tour supporting Britney Spears later this month.

And on the day before the tour, October 24, he launches his debut album ‘Fast Life’.

The Gazette, in collaboration with Chuff Media, were lucky to get interview time with Joe on Monday (October 10) in London, just after his appearances at the BBC Teen Awards and the XTra Factor. He talked about everything from meeting the One Direction boys, his liking for the music of Pixie Lott to his transition from his multi-platinum selling, award winning band the Jonas Brothers to branching off in his own right as a solo artist. Read the full interview below.

The tour dates with Britney Spears are:
    Oct 25, Belfast Odyssey Arena.
    Oct 27, London O2 Arena.
    Oct 28, London O2 Arena.
Oct 30, Birmingham LG Arena. Oct 31, London Wembley Arena.

DATELINE: 10:15am, Monday 10th October – London, UK, with Joe Jonas…

Gazette: You’ve only been here a couple of days but how are you finding the UK so far?
Joe: It’s been great. I always love coming over to Europe, the response is always great. I did the BBC Teen Awards and that was a great time – its good to be back!

Gazette: The BBC Teen Awards were at Wembley Arena; did that give you a taster and make you a little bit more excited to be back at the same venue later this month?
Joe: Yes, it’s always an incredible feeling to play there. It was a great taste tester of what it’s going to be like back here at the end of the month.

Gazette: After being in a group it must be a little bit daunting going out by yourself, is it a bit like starting from scratch?
Joe: Sometimes – it’s cool to be back and to be able to do my solo stuff here. It’s a little bit sometimes scary to be up there by myself but I’ve been getting great support and the band support so overall I’m just happy.

Gazette: In America you’ve just finished touring with Jay Sean who’s from London – how was the tour?
Joe: It was great, he’s such a good tour partner and I’m really happy and thankful to have been able to do that tour. Jojo was the opener too and that was a lot of fun. Jay Sean is a really cool guy so we had a great time.

Gazette: Did he offer you any advice coming from a solo artist?
Joe: We sort of both gave advice to each other, just to go out there and have a good time and to really enjoy every second, every moment as it can move by so quickly.

Gazette: As mentioned earlier you performed at the BBC Ten Aards yesterday, did you get a chance to check out any of the UK talent that performed? What’s your opinion on the current music scene?
Joe: The current UK music scene is really amazing, it’s definitely getting better and better. Every time I’m here I find new artists and things that I really love listening to. I got to meet the One Direction guys and thought they were really nice, really cool and I’m really happy for them. Pixie [Lott] is a good friend of mine and I love her music and her new stuff sounds incredible.

Gazette: One Direction came from a programme called the X Factor, which you appeared on their sister show the Xtra Factor on Saturday (October 8), how was that experience for you?
Joe: It was really fun! It was a little bit interesting as it was the first time I was learning about the programme, I didn’t want to necessarily mess up any of the names – I definitely ended up messing up someone’s name! I said Lucy instead of Janet so that was a little bit of a funny moment but I think they understood that it would have been out of the norm for me to know everybody. I definitely want to keep up with the series; I’m really interested to see who wins. Funnily enough, I got to watch the show for the first time in the studio and the ones who got kicked off were the ones who I thought were going to be kicked off except for one person – I felt pretty proud of myself for knowing my stuff!

Gazette: Now later this month you’re coming back to the UK to tour with Britney Spears, that’s gotta be something that must be a little surreal?
Joe: It’s definitely surreal! I grew up listening to Britney Spears – it feels good to be back here but to be doing this tour is just so incredible. Britney was the first CD I ever bought so I’ve listened to her stuff since I was really young and continued to listen to her music for many years so it’s very exciting.

Gazette: Britney is well known for having a massive live show, really theatrical, big stage set up. What can we look forward to with your set?
Joe: Very high energy! Fun show! I almost like to make the crowd feel like they’re in a club, I just want to get them dancing, get them standing up. I feel like I’m not doing my job unless everyone’s standing up and rocking out. Have a really good time with it and hope everyone else does too.

Gazette: Your debut album ‘Fast Life’ is due out in the UK on October 24, and with this album you collaborated with many different writers, producers and artists such as Chris Brown and Lil Wayne. Has working with these artists been important in your musical transition to a more R&B influenced sound?
Joe: Yes definitely – it’s always a good feeling when you work with artists that are that incredible. I’ve been lucky enough to have been able to work with some really amazing artists and some amazing songwriters. You know, I guess it depends I’ve been lucky enough to have been able to work with producers and writers that I personally really look up to. So, it really kind of almost is helpful to be able to work with artists who are accepted into that genre because it means that people that listen to that kind of music have a new found respect I think for artists that do that.

Gazette: Who would be your dream collaborations to work with in the future?
Joe: Maybe Kanye West, British artists like Adele, Tinie Tempah, then Foster The People, something a little different from what I’m used to. That way it shows a different side to the music that I am making.

Gazette: How different was the creative process with making an album as a solo artist in comparison to making an album with your group [Jonas Brothers]?
Joe: It took a WHILE! I wanted to really spend time on this album – to take my time to make sure I made music that I was really proud of; that I wasn’t holding back from anything necessarily. I didn’t want to just rush this album at all so I was very pleased with taking the time, and really finding the sound that I wanted to go with. There’s been some times with my brothers that we’ve done some things and really just rushed them, like making records quickly and I wanted to take my time with this one.

Gazette: Have your brothers been supportive of your solo career?
Joe: My brothers have been very supportive. They’re incredible and I’m really thankful for the fact that they’re happy for me to take my time and do my thing, it’s the best feeling.

Gazette: Throughout your music career you’ve also been dipping your toe into a bit of acting, is this something that you would like to do more of in the future?
Joe: Yes I would love to; I really enjoy doing movie roles or acting roles. I’m actually working on a project with a friend of mine out in LA, we’ve just got a writer involved so it’s very very exciting. I’ve got a few plans for next year – at the beginning of the year I may be making this movie that I’m thinking about creating and then I think what it’s looking like right now is that we may try and do a world tour of some sort and definitely make more music. I’ll definitely be coming back soon to do my own tour – I’m not exactly sure when but it’s in the works.

Gazette: If everything goes to plan with your solo career would that mean you would have to put the Jonas Brothers on hold?
Joe: No we’re still going to be doing Jonas Brothers stuff, nothing yet is planned, no specific stuff for when we’re going to make our next album, we’re just taking our time with it. My brothers are doing their own individual things – Nick is going to be on Broadway next year so we may end up making music in New York but it all depends on what our schedules look like.

Gazette: Finally, what sort of music are you enjoying at the moment? Any artists that you would like to champion?
Joe: You know what, I’m really liking One Directions stuff. I think they’re doing a great job and their stuff sounds really great so I can definitely see myself checking out more of their music. As well as them I love all different kinds of music, I love dance music, I love pop music, I love a lot that DJs are doing. I think Pixie Lott’s new stuff is great. To get inspiration I pull from all different types of music, everything from dance music to hip-hop music, you name it, I probably listen to it! I always try to pull from all of those different influences and experiences for inspiration.
