JOE JONAS “See No More” (Hollywood): B+

Things are changing, people. One-time Jonas Brother Joe has gone solo, he’s got a soul patch and his lead single, “See No More” (available Monday on iTunes), couldn’t be less similar to anything the JoBros. have churned out in their scream-worthy career. This angst-ridden r&b track, co-written by Chris Brown, finds 21-year-old Joe playing the jilted lover over atmospheric synths: “I tried to look away from what you did/Heartache became my friend, oh-oh-oh,” he croons. “You walked away from me baby/I would have never done the same/You made me feel like our love was not real/You threw it all away.” Set to appear on Jonas’ solo debut, “Fast Life,” the track sounds like the sequel to “No Air,” Brown’s forlorn, can’t-live-without-you duet with Jordin Sparks. Jonas seems to be trying to forge an identity independent of his smiley, squeaky-clean bro band — and it’s working.
