Joe Jonas is no longer the tween idol that everyone remembers him as. He’s 21 years old with a new solo album and he’s been hitting the gym a lot lately. The first single will be released next month, and he’ll be performing for the first time in Chicago as a solo act at the B96 Pepsi SummerBash!
Joe covered the April issue of Details magazine, and inside he talked about how he’s changed. “I’m growing up, the fans are growing up,” Joe says. “I’ve gone through a lot of stuff in my life so far. There are stories I haven’t really been able to tell. When you’re writing with three people, you wind up with a sound that might be—not average—but, you know, expected.”

Uh, how has no one thought of this before? A jean jacket under a suit. Holy cow. This not only makes our head explode because of the sheer genius of this fascinating layering technique, but also because superhot band-singer dude Joe Jonas is wearing it. You guys realize that he’s currently sporting two jackets but still looks svelte and so incredibly fresh it hurts, right? Most people can’t make one jacket look decent, but Joe rolls up on the red carpet looking all gorge and effortless. Kinda impressive since in doing so he is MOCKING every single other ill-fitting jacket out there. Also note that a white tee and a slick navy suit can end up looking like a hella cheeseball, hair-gelled dude from A Night At The Roxbury who relentlessly tries to buy you a drink at a club your friends dragged you to and you CANNOT GET HIM AWAY all night and his breath kind of reeks of sofa cushions and root beer, but Mr. Jonas bridged the barftastic gap with a little flash of denim and by pulling up the sleeves. You know what else Joe knows how to do really, ABSURDLY well besides layering? Accessorizing. He NAILED it with a little pop of color in his pocket square and a flash of hardware with his necklaces and bracelets. Not to mention his cute facial scruff is basically PERFECT (and, behold! It’s NOT a soul patch!) and we sort of always have a crush on him. Basically, we already knew that Joe Jonas is a great dresser, but this ensemble proves that he’s clever too. Om. Nom.
Joe Jonas will be attending 2011′s Wango Tango to see all the awesome artists perform, including the amazing Britney Spears!

As we gear up for our “Moulin Rouge at 10: A Spectacular Spectacular MTV News Event” on Monday, we are remembering why the movie is so memorable a decade later.
Joe Jonas had the pleasure of working with the flick’s director Baz Luhrmann back in 2003 as a member of the children’s chorus in Luhrmann’s Broadway production of Puccini’s classic opera “La Boheme,” and he has only the fondest memories of the experience.
“It was amazing,” he told MTV News. “Funny story for you: I was in ‘La Boheme,’ [and] I remember being onstage and I didn’t know what stage left or stage right was, and I was really confused, and he told me from the audience, he was like, ‘All right, take a little bit to the stage left.’
“And I was really confused, and I was really embarrassed,” he continued. “I didn’t know what he was talking about. He literally walked up onstage and he acted like he was talking to me, and he whispered in my ear, like, ‘Go a little bit to the left.’ So, for me, the fact that a director would be so cool with me like that, from then on, I was so blown away that he was so cool.”
Jonas, who has since gone on to superstardom and even starred in two successful TV musicals (“Camp Rock” and “Camp Rock 2″) credits Luhrmann’s forward-thinking vision in “Moulin Rouge” for pop culture’s current obsession with the genre.
“I think he’s an amazing director, and his credits are unbelievable,” he said. ” ‘Moulin Rouge’ is one of the best movies of all time, and there’s no doubt in that. And I think it really has started a generation of music into TV [and] movies so openly.”
MTV News will reunite Luhrmann, Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor to celebrate “Moulin Rouge at 10: A Spectacular Spectacular MTV News Event” on Monday, May 2, at 3 p.m. ET on MTV.com. The director and stars will be joined by co-star John Leguizamo, who played artist Toulouse-Lautrec, and Catherine Martin, who won the Oscar for costume design and art direction. Hosted by MTV News’ Josh Horowitz, the live stream will include special appearances and live interviews while looking back at how the film came to be and how its legacy continues to grow.
To get in on the fun, fans can submit questions for the “Moulin Rouge” director and talent via the @MTVNews Twitter handle with the hashtag #AskMoulin.

By Matt EliasOn Tuesday night in Hollywood, Us Weekly celebrated its annual Hot Hollywood Style issue, and its red carpet was appropriately hot with Hollywood talent. The event honored a slew of celebrities, who were awarded with style-specific honors. The celebs in attendance, however, were decidedly modest about their awards.
Musician Joe Jonas, who was awarded the Laid-Back Rocker title, joked, “I guess it’s not the dressed-up rocker [prize].”
But all kidding aside, it’s an honor that Jonas took to heart.
“I just try to dress to be myself,” Jonas told MTV News. “I love style and I love fashion, and I’ve always been really interested in it. And I think it’s a big piece [of life] for musicians out there. You know a lot of people are looking at everything you do and I’ve always wanted to be myself with what I wear, and to be recognized for it is really cool.”
Singer-turned-fashion-mogul Jessica Simpson had similar sentiments for her award, Style Icon of the Year, albeit with a little bit of confusion.
“Style Icon of the Year, really?” Simpson said. “I’m not really that stylish, like to be honest with you. Like I wear my fiancé’s Yale hoodie and a pair of sweat shorts that have been cut off, and Uggs, and Hanky Pankies, little pair of panties, you know? I’m not really that stylish, but I do know how to make a woman look beautiful, and when I want to look great, I know how to make it happen.”
The Sharp-Dressed Man honor went to “True Blood” star Joe Manganiello, who admitted to feeling a little pressure when dressing up for the night’s event.
“On ‘True Blood,’ they put the pressure on me to not be dressed — so either way I go …,” Manganiello said.
Other winners included former MTV reality stars Lauren Conrad and Whitney Port, who took home the Feminine Fashionista and the Individualist awards, respectively. Actress Hayden Panettiere was named the Style Chameleon, and “Dancing With the Stars” castmates Kendra Wilkinson, Petra Nemcova and Chelsea Kane were awarded the aptly titled “Dancing With the Stars” Divas prize.

The magazine recently released it’s hot Hollywood style stars of the year which included Joe. Jessica Simpson was named the style icon of the year for the annual issue.
What was her biggest fashion no no moment? “The mom jeans…they kinda didn’t work for me! I learned a lesson. The whole world learned a lesson!” Simpson told US Weekly.

By Jocelyn Vena (@jocelyn1212) , with reporting by Matt EliasJoe Jonas isn’t playing games for his solo album. Having already hooked up with songwriter Claude Kelly and producer Danja, Jonas is also adding some pop&b flavor to his forthcoming project with an assist from Chris Brown.
The two made headlines earlier this month when a photo of them in the studio together hit the Internet. It was tweeted out by producer Hit-Boy (Lil Wayne, Eminem, Kanye West, 50 Cent), who also had this message for fans interested in hearing what the two young men were cooking up. “@joejonas @HitBoy_SC @chrisbrown just did a smash! Whooo.”
“We wrote a song called ‘See No More,’ ” Joe told MTV News at the Us Weekly Hot Hollywood Style issue party Tuesday night. “It’s on the album, and people are going back and forth; we’re all trying to figure out singles right now. But it was a great experience. Chris is such a talented dude.”
While their backgrounds seem very different, Brown and Jonas are both started out as teen stars and are now trying to bridge the gap to adulthood. Joe said it was a lot of fun working with his fellow chart-topper. “He’s got thousands of songs,” Jonas said. “He’s always in the studio, and to work with him is really fun. We were able to collaborate really well together, and the vibe in the studio was really chill; just two musicians writing together.”
No release date has been set for Jonas’ solo debut, but Joe has been quick to keep fans abreast of the album’s progress on Twitter. “Finished the album photo shoot today. So excited. A dream come true indeed,” he wrote April 6. “Can’t wait to show you all!”

The evening, which will benefit AmeriCares, will also feature a special video message from Joe Jonas of The Jonas Brothers.
The event will also feature a number of young theater companies, singers, writers, and artists who will create a tapestry of new songs and scenes in response to the recent events in Japan, including Brooklyn Soundpainting Company, 2G featuring d’Artagnan and Matt Park, The Movement Theatre Company and Kristine Haruna Lee, Misa Ogasawara, Mahina Movement, and Alexander Rovang.
There will also be the presentation of a new short play by 2011 GLAAD Media Award winner Harrison David Rivers, to be directed by Colette Robert? and featuring Lauren Hines, Christopher Larkin, Casey Robinson, and Jehan O. Young.

Joe, 21, and his brother Nick, 18, were snapped flaunting their perfectly-toned torsos while frolicking in the sand on a vacation in Hawaii.
Brother Kevin and his wife Danielle were nowhere in sight, but that hasn’t stopped the tween favorites from enjoying themselves.
“Now in paradise,” Joe Tweeted on Tuesday, followed by two smiley emoticons. “Chillinnnnn.”
Meanwhile, Nick wrote on his Twitter Wednesday, “so blessed these days.”

Nick, 18, and big bro Joe, 21, showed off their bulging biceps while playing football on the beach in Hawaii Wednesday. Flaunting their impressive six-pack abs, the Camp Rock 2 stars — sans older brother Kevin, 23 — cooled down with a midday swim.
Earlier this month, Joe told Details that he and his family had never been to the Aloha State. “We’ve seen every state in America besides Alaska and Hawaii, been all over Europe,” he said of the group’s rigorous touring schedule. “It’s been so much fun.”

• Vanessa Hudgens had the perfect companion for a weekend of music, art and partying in the desert: rumored beau Josh Hutcherson. The two decamped to Indio, Calif., for the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival, and they hit up the A/X Armani Exchange Neon Carnival, where they were spotted dancing together far away from the fray. “They were dancing together really goofily, clearly unconcerned with keeping up appearances,” an onlooker says.
• Also at the Neon Carnival that night: Rihanna, who was obsessed with watching a man on stilts parade around the 944 magazine-hosted bash. But once Usher arrived, the two hung out at a banquette, chatting with a group of friends. Elsewhere, Kellan Lutz, Ashley Greene and Leonardo DiCaprio checked out the carnival and thrill rides.
• Lea Michele and her Glee costars Mark Salling and Chord Overstreet were sipping “purple lemonade” cocktails and chilling out poolside at the Colony Palms Hotel in Palm Springs while in town for the festival. Rosario Dawson was also poolside, and she snacked on bacon and shrimp tempura, before heading back over to the concert with her friends.
• At the actual concert, Joe Jonas was joking about the extra-tight security, laughing and pretending to check people’s wristbands as they exited the bathrooms in the VIP area. And that VIP section was packed: Penn Badgley sipped a beer as he watched Lauryn Hill perform while surrounded by female friends.
• Katy Perry, who sported a flowy, Boho chic dress, was spotted with a 10 person entourage backstage before the Kills performed. She and best pal Rihanna were also inseparable on the festival grounds, while a T-shirt-clad Adrian Grenier was out with the masses, just tailgating with pals – away from the VIP section.
